Metsa Pavilion in Japan
ACUMEN & Metsa wood: Wood travel - Sustainable Finnish forest timber heading for central of Tokyo.
The 80 year old spruce panels will soon be used in Finland's Metsa Pavilion in Japan. During the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, this fashionable wooden pavilion will become a gathering place for Finnish Olympic delegation. The application of Kerto LVL (laminated veneer lumber) components makes the construction process of venues faster, lighter and more environmentally friendly.
All the wood materials come from sustainably managed forests and wood will be processed into Kerto LVL products to present innovative and lightweight efficient building solutions. It's a highly green building material: almost no waste is generated because every part of the tree is used in the best way. By products generated in the process, such as sawdust, bark and wood chips, are used to produce pulp and bioenergy. Part of the bioenergy is then returned to produce kerto LVL plates. As with all wood products, carbon can be stored throughout the life of buildings built with Kerto LVL.
